Styled Shoot in Barcelona, Spain | Interview with Barcelona Wedding

When I think back on our trip to Barcelona, Spain, it seems like a dream. It’s been about a year since this amazing trip & I still can’t get over it. When we booked our plane tickets to Barcelona, I told my husband, “Wouldn’t it be amazing if I could photograph a bride & groom in Spain?” We brainstormed & I tried to figure out how I could pull something off like this. After all, I am an American photographer, traveling to a city & a country I have never been to & I don’t know anyone from the wedding industry. I knew I would need major help to plan a styled shoot all the way from the USA. I reached out to Barcelona Wedding on Instagram, she specializes in destination weddings in Spain & held my breath. To my pleasant surprise, she took a chance on me & said, “YES!” I was so excited! She brought everything together, along with, Laura from Cañigueral Mesas Con Esencia.

Can we talk about the color palette for a minute?? Rose gold, powder blue & white. I die!! I’m so grateful I had this opportunity. Definitely a highlight for my career.

I decided to reach out to Sonia with Barcelona Wedding & ask her a few questions for the blog!

Hey Sonia! Introduce yourself to our Cupcake readers!

Hi, I’m Sonia. I’m a destination wedding planner & designer. I love to dream with my clients and I cry at every single wedding.

What do you think is the most important element of a wedding day?

A good team of vendors.

What piece of advice would you give for a couple is wanting to plan a destination wedding?

Book a wedding planner! It will save you a lot of time, money and last minute “surprises”.

Why should a U.S couple pick Spain for a destination wedding?

We have amazing venues full of culture, history, good weather and amazing food!

Do you have a favorite location or venue in Spain that you highly recommend for destination weddings?

Every couple has a special venue waiting for them, part of my job is to understand what’s the best venue for every single couple.

If you could give one piece of advice to any couple, what would it be?

Enjoy every single minute of the planning process!

Why should a couple pick YOU in particular? What makes you stand out from the rest?

Here is one of my last client’s reviews to answer this question, “Sonia helped turn our dream wedding into a reality. Nothing was too big a task and she went above and beyond with everything. She has the best suppliers and deals directly with them, so we didn’t have to do anything and everything was perfect. Sonia was more like a friend than a planner, our wedding seemed to be just as important to her as it was to us which was so important!”

Thank you so much Sonia! You were amazing to work with & I appreciate all of the hard work you did, to make sure this shoot was successful.

Also, special shout out to Elena & Andres. My perfect bride & groom models. I found Elena on Instagram & I immediately fell in love with her face. She reminded me so much of Rory (Alexis Bledel) from the Gilmore Girls. I reached out to her & she mentioned she had a friend named Andres who may be a good fit for the groom. & YES, he was!!! They were both personable, so sweet, professional, soooo gorgeous together & I loved working with them.

Take a look at all of the vendors who made this editorial absolutely amazing. I would recommend any of them in a heartbeat!!
