Is it sad that Ivan & I haven’t had professional photographs taken of us, since our engagement portraits? Yes, it is. It’s very sad. Especially since life is so precious. Things can change in a blink of an eye.
I’m always shocked to hear when my clients have had babies, added to their family tree, and haven’t taken photos since their wedding day. Where are your photos to document your precious baby? Or that you added a new doggie to your family? 😉 These are precious memories people! Yea, well, I don’t know why I act so shocked, since I haven’t had professional photos taken of us in like years. 7 years to be exact. Yikes! Besides our engagement session, Ivan & I have taken “family portraits” on our own. Maybe, about 3 years ago, with our little dog Gino & for years we had those photos displayed & they made me really happy. I even took our own family portraits with my side of the family in Tulum & of course, have taken my husband’s side of the family portraits twice already. But the truth is, there is no greater pain the butt, than running back & forth from your tripod, back to your family & if you have your little remote…it just doesn’t work when you need it to. Your camera just refuses to focus properly & by the time you walk back in place, your hair is all over the place & you are sweating. Not cool y’all! Not cool!
Since our trip was so close to our 6 year anniversary, I told Ivan, wouldn’t it be neat to take anniversary portraits in Cali? When I realized we were actually staying at a photographer’s house, I mean, does it get any better than that?
We headed out semi-early and headed out to Big Sur. A place I had seen countless times in photographs!
Cannot even begin to describe how beautiful it was.
A photograph cannot capture how immensely gorgeous Big Sur truly is.
You know what’s awesome about hanging out with other photographers? You take photos of them & they take photos of you. & they are always pretty! 🙂 Lol!
All I could think about when looking out at the ocean & those gorgeous cliffs, was how much I would love to photograph a couple there. Maybe one day, I can make that dream come true.
We kept on the lookout for whales, we saw a couple of water spouts!
I love this photo so much. I think it’s the open air. I would love to put it up on a canvas on my walls.
We had lunch at this beautiful restaurant. This was our view. So beautiful!!
Once we arrived to Carmel by the Sea, we traveled to Pebble Beach. Such a beautiful location. This one is one of my faves. I actually ordered a 16×24 canvas & I am currently waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Can’t wait to see it! Hopefully it will be the beginning of our gallery wall. The empty wall behind my sofa makes me sad 😦 Lol!
The following photographs were taken by Color & Grain Photography.
So honestly, it was super weird to be in front of another photographer’s camera. I was actually extremely nervous. I felt really jittery & I didn’t know what to do with my hands. Robot dance anyone?
Many times before beginning a photo session, my clients will tell me, “I’m so nervous!” & I always try to make them feel better by saying, “No, there is no reason to be nervous, it’s totally okay, you’re going to do great!” Because I truly believe this, obviously, if I didn’t- well I wouldn’t say it! Lol.
But before my photo session began, I thought, “Omg. this is nerve wrecking! How’s my hair? Do I have something in my teeth? Does my makeup look okay? Does this pose make me look fat? Maybe I should have worn something else…” These were all thoughts that ran through my head before our session began.
Now I know how y’all feel! Haha!
Once Rosa started walking us through some poses, she asked Ivan & I to hug each other. Hugging Ivan always makes me feel better. & I actually did what I ask a lot of my couples to do. Melt. Just melt into each other. & once I did that, the poses came naturally. Rosa of course, calmed my nerves & made me feel so very comfortable.
This is one of my favorite photos of Ivan. He’s always been very protective of me & this photo portrays that so well.
Love these black & white photos.
Can’t wait to get these on my walls!
& here is my dearest friend, Rosa. To think that if we didn’t make the trip to Cali, we would have never met. Isn’t it funny how things work out?
Thank you Rosa for an amazing day & an awesome trip. I also want to thank you again for a BEAUTIFUL anniversary session. You captured our love and I am so incredibly thankful for that. Now it’s time to plan your trip to Texas so I can photograph you & Francis! Longhorns & Bluebonnets?? 😉
