Introducing Cupcakes & Lemonade!

Come on over & take a seat.

Prop your feet up on the table in front of you & feel that warm Summer breeze.

What’s going on with you? How are you? How’s your business?

Here, have a cupcake & a glass of refreshing lemonade…

For the past couple of months, I’ve been thinking of all these really blog posts that would relate directly to photographers or those in the Art industry. If you are a friend of mine, you know I LOVE talking about photography & business. Oh, don’t even get me started on business. I love everything that has to do with starting a business & running a business. I’m not an expert, by any means, but I sure do love it. I think I get it from my dad, because he’s always been a hard working business man for as long as I can remember. My mom always says, “you got your artsy side from me & your business side from daddy.” Yup, I think it’s true!

I have a lot of friends that have all types of talents. From baking these delicious, fluffy macaroons to dreaming of becoming the ultimate wedding coordinator. We all have talents, sometimes we know what they are right away & other times, we need to do a little more exploring.

A few months ago, I started writing these blog posts, but they are currently in the draft section of my blog. I haven’t posted them yet. Partly, because 1. I don’t want anyone thinking I’m a know it all it when it comes to photography & business, because believe me, no. Yea, just no. I’m a working progress, as we all should be. & 2. Well, I’m just a little shy to put myself out there a little bit more. This past year, I have really opened up to who I am, who my little family is & my personality, primarily on social media. More then ever before during this cupcake journey, do people know who the girl is behind Cupcake. Just last weekend, at the wedding I was working, I met a girl & she said, “I think I follow you on IG, are you Cupcake Photography?” I mean, that was AWESOME. I love meeting new people, and when I get to actually meet people who like my photos & interact with me on social media, I just think that’s the coolest thing ever.

Okay, so back to what this post is about, because I’m getting off track (like I usually do, haha!) I remember when I first started my photography business, I literally felt all alone. I didn’t know how to start, where to start, what to do, how to do it, I mean, it was just a crazy time! From every aspect really, from learning how to use my first DSLR camera, to learning about prime lenses & what made them so different, from learning how to do my taxes properly (GR!), I mean, I can go on & on.

So, I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to start writing posts that were related to those in the Art field, although, I feel like a lot of times, you could even read the posts without being in the Art industry & be able to relate it directly to your own life. For example, I have a post called, “How to beat the photographer blues…” I also, have another one in the works about finding that balance between your photography business & your every day life. I think it’s going to be helpful & just a great read over all.

I decided to name these posts, ‘cupcakes & lemonade – two of my favorite things. I want the posts to be like having a conversation with a good friend. Think of it as a lunch date & we are chatting over cupcakes & lemonade 😉

I’m glad you are on this journey with me! I look forward to our cupcake date! 🙂

Thank you for posting this. I am a struggling photographer. I want to start my business, I just don’t know where to start. So many questions…
